Abstract

This study explores the concept of space among the Karimpalan Community in
Kerala. The study delves into their spatial practices and perceptions about space in
their daily life. Karimpalans were one of the acephalous communities in Kerala;
their spatial utilization is closely linked with their daily subsistence. This paper is
trying to uncover the ways in which space is conceptualized by them and classifying
different spaces according to its usage. This research also examines how their spatial
dynamics and everyday practices are challenged by external factors. This study
highlights the border discourse of indigenous architecture and their spatial theory.
