Career Search Efficacy among Pre-Service Physical Educators: A Critical Analysis of Two Year B.P.Ed Programme

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the career search efficacy of pre-service physical education teachers. Four hundred teacher trainees undergoing 2 years BPEd course were selected as participants and were surveyed using online questionnaire survey. E-version of the Career Search Efficacy Scale developed by Solberg et al., and an online suggestion form was used for the collection of the data. The study used a mixed-method research design where the CSE was analyzed quantitatively whereas suggestions were coded and analyzed qualitatively. Results of the study showed a near-average career search efficacy among pre-service physical education teachers in all domains. Further teacher education trainees suggested to include internship programmes, interview training, CV creation classes, handling online job search sites, and orientation on professional network sites like LinkedIn.
